EcoPark South will provide a flagship Resource Recovery Facility with capacity to manage 135,000 tonnes of recyclable material every year.

The project is the first phase in North London Waste Authority’s plan to build a £1.2bn sustainable waste management hub at Edmonton EcoPark.

In addition to the Resource Recovery Facility, the site will provide the first ever public Reuse and Recycling Centre and EcoPark House will open up the site to the public, providing a knowledge-sharing hub for waste prevention and recycling.

The scheme is a vital part of the green recovery in Enfield, helping to boost local jobs and apprenticeships and support the emerging high-tech industrial cluster in the area.

Key Features

  • 3 new facilities along with associated roads and landscaping
  • 2,800T structural steelwork

Delivering together

Working with VINCI sister companies Bachy Soletanche, Roger Bullivant and Vibro Menard, the team has deployed CFA piling, Controlled Modulus Columns (CMCs) and a low permeability Trenchmix® cut off wall to construct the foundations for the Resource Recovery Facility and the Reuse and Recycling Centre.

The combined solution brings considerable environmental benefits and contributes towards an overall reduction in embodied carbon of 10-16%.

EcoPark South

A sustainable approach

Sustainability is a constant theme both throughout the construction of the project and for the finished facility.

Features include a rainwater collection system and a clean energy system powered by photovoltaic panels and geothermal energy. The project delivers a sustainable facility that aims to significantly boost recycling across north London.

Inspiring the next generation

Taylor Woodrow has partnered with the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London (CONEL) to provide almost 100 people with onsite skills training throughout the duration of the project.

A combination of 2-weeks’ classroom training and 1-week onsite training helped prepare participants for work experience placements and potential employment in a range of roles across the industry.
