More city centre streets are set to be transformed, providing better transport options for the local community and visitors.

The works at Victoria and Albert Street will make active travel choices such as walking and cycling much easier and safer. The scheme includes widening footways, upgrading cycleways and providing more cycle stands.

Bus bays and waiting areas will be upgraded and better streetlighting will make the area safer and more comfortable for pedestrians. The one-way system from the bus station to the Wardwick, a temporary measure during the COVID-19 pandemic, will also become a permanent route.

The improved accessibility and active travel options will make it easier for people to travel sustainably between Derby’s Business Improvement Districts – St Peter’s Quarter and Cathedral Quarter – as well as the new Becketwell performance venue.
