Community Involvement

Community Involvement

Resources are allocated and guidance is provided throughout the Group to ensure a consistent and professional approach to the management of all our activities. Measures are taken to ensure the delivery of projects with minimal disruption to all parties concerned. Community relations are actively encouraged as an outward sign of the commitment we have to the communities in which we work, over and above those defined by law or expected by our stakeholders.

Taylor Woodrow gives employees an additional day’s leave per year (termed a Stand Out Make a Difference Day) to do volunteer work within the community or for charitable institutions.

Our Old Oak Common team have used their days to develop a well-established programme of community investment and their activities have included helping a local school build a prize-winning garden for the Hampton Court Flower Show.

The students were involved in every part of the process, from researching the initial ideas, to helping with construction, to growing the majority of the plants from seed and then planting the garden.

Mirel Manolache (Milo), pictured, spent time assisting in the preparation of the garden and this was greatly appreciated by the school. Jan Parnell, Head of 6th Form, said ‘Without the expertise of the contractors on board I don’t think that we would have been able to contemplate a project of this scale. It is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to get practical hands on work experience.’
