M6 Wins at the Construction News Awards

Congratulations to Taylor Woodrows M6 Smart Motorway team for picking up the Health, Safety and Wellbeing (project) Award at this years Construction News Awards.

The team recently attended the ceremony with over 1,200 leading clients and contractors to claim their award, which followed a face-to-face review by a panel of 80 expert judges. Comments from the judges for the Balfour Beatty VINCI joint venture included:

Very strong leadership from the BBV Management team in driving through multiple examples of innovation to manage risk to their workforce and supply chain. They have exceeded their client requirements for pro-active Health & Safety Risk Management.

The teams submission covered a range of initiatives such as:
Virtual reality training to raise awareness of people plant interface for everyones safety
Working with a contractor to develop a setting out robot to reduce risk to operatives when performing this task at night
Providing mates in mind training to help break down the barriers around mental health

We had a further two submissions shortlisted in the awards - Automated Workflows for Buried Services Management was shortlisted for Digital Construction Excellence, and HS2 Main Works Civils Contract was shortlisted for Diversity and Inclusion Excellence.
