Lizzie Featherstone speaks at Construction News Event

Construction News Inspire Me campaign promotes the role of women as leaders in the construction industry and Lizzie Featherstone, Head of Business Information Tools for Taylor Woodrow, was recently invited to speak at one of their events.

The campaign aims to inspire future leaders and promote the construction industry as being gender neutral, welcoming of women in all roles. The workshop was focused on language as barriers and covered a range of topics such as tips on how to control your voice and ensure that you are heard, how to ensure that job descriptions are gender-neutral and hearing how different contractors are tackling the challenge of achieving more balanced teams.

Lizzie was asked to join a panel session discussing the extent of language as an obstacle in the workplace and how best to respond on an individual level, a business level and an industry level. She said:

The event linked in perfectly with our aim to improve the gender balance of our teams, and with Women in Taylor Woodrows key theme for 2019 - increased retention of women in the business. I was delighted to join the panel and give both mine and Taylor Woodrow's thoughts on how we can all start making a difference.
