Victoria's North Ticket Hall Opens to the Public

The Victoria Station Upgrade team reached a major milestone this week, when the new North ticket hall was opened to the public for the first time.

This complex project will increase the size of the station by 133%. Innovations and industry firsts have been at the heart of its successful delivery since it began in 2011.

Amongst the projects successes are:
The completion of the UKs largest ever jet grouting project to enable the construction of over 300m of tunnels in challenging ground conditions
Being the first project to incorporate propless connections to remove the need for any temporary propping in the station where new tunnels break into existing ones, maximising operational space throughout the works
Using an innovative approach to monitoring and managing the noise from activities through reverse contour mapping to enable works to continue throughout performances at two of the capitals longstanding theatres

A third of the projects tunnels are now in use as routes to and from the new ticket hall. The remainder will be brought into use when this multi award-winning project is completed in Summer 2018 with the opening of the stations extended South ticket hall.

Craig Prangley, Project Director said The opening of the North Ticket Hall is the first phase of this project to transform Victoria Underground station. The new ticket hall is a fitting testament to the skill and dedication of the project team who have worked tirelessly to deliver this complex engineering project.
