The City Factory, a think tank for the city of the future

Through the creation of infrastructure and the built environment, VINCI is at the heart of urban development issues.

The City Factory (La Fabrique de la Cité) is a think tank inspired by VINCI that brings together thought leaders and players from around the world to focus on issues facing the future of our cities.

Launched in London in 2008, The City Factory returned to London in January 2012 to hold a seminar on the theme of :

Looking for Legacy: the sustainable impact of major sports infrastructure

The event brought together in the region of 80 participants to listen and take part in a debate and discussion on the various aspects of this topic.

The speakers included :
Remi Dorval, President of The City Factory
Andrew Ridley-Barker, Managing Director, VINCI Construction UK
Bridget Rosewell, Chief Economic Adviser Greater London Authority
Kay Hughes, Principal Design Adviser, Olympic Delivery Authority
Richard Brown, Strategy Director, Olympic Park Legacy Company
John Barrow, Architect Populous

The aim of holding the event was to demonstrate how The City Factory enriches our thinking, enabling us to extend our expertise beyond the technical to the high value-added knowledge which helps us to visualise today the cities of tomorrow. It has helped to raise our profile in the London area, especially in the context of 2012, as well as positioning us in the global context of the VINCI group with its associated benefits of financial strength, collaboration and innovative thinking.

We aim to build on the success of this event by holding a series of breakfast meetings which will be smaller events focussing on appropriate topics of interest such as mobility and public spaces.
