The National Welsh Assembly

A view of the Welsh Assembly building at night Enlarge Cowl at the Welsh Assembly buidling used for ventilation Enlarge

When Taylor Woodrow was named as preferred bidder for the National Assembly building, early in 2003, the building was described as inspirational and potentially an icon for Wales. At that time, the First Minister referred to the project as “a flagship building for Wales which will be recognisable around the world and recognised for its standard-setting environmental qualities”.

With the building now complete and an official opening by H.M. the Queen held on St.David’s Day, 2006, the aspirations of all involved have surely been realised. The purpose of this Case Study is to evaluate the role played by the Strategic Alliance Partnership (SAP) in the successful delivery of the project.

The SAP partner responsible for the building services installation on site was MJN Colston, a member of the Staveley group of companies.
