Taylor Woodrow has recently completed and handed over the new Grace Academy in Solihull, West Midlands. Originally a traditional contract, following extensive value engineering works and close collaboration with both the Client and the Design team, the project was awarded as a design and build contract.
The scheme was sponsored by Bob Edmiston of the IM Group whose vision is to develop well educated, responsible, considerate and caring citizens with a strong sense of values, who will be responsible in and contribute to a modern society. Bob Edmiston is founder of the evangelical international charity Christian Vision and has a vision to create a chain of religious schools.
The Academy consists of a RC frame, 4-storey education facility within the grounds of the existing Whitesmore School and will create a 1350 pupil space Academy, together with all associated external works.
The Academy will have a Christian ethos and focus on Business and Enterprise. The existing school remained in operation during the contract and was demolished upon completion.
